Tussey Mountain School Intramural Program

General Information

The school intramural program is sold in 4, 6, or 8 week packages. Students can tailor their packages to include any combination of the following: Lift ticket, lessons, rental, and snowtubing. Tussey Mountain provides each student with a laminated badge that displays his/her package choice. This laminated card must be brought each week in order for the student to ski/snowboard/tube. This badge will be punched each week and each student will be given rental forms, a lift ticket, and/or a lesson pass if appropriate when they arrive. There are two sessions, a 4pm-7pm session and a 4pm -10pm session. The school may bus students out and back, or parents may elect to pick up their child earlier than the school returns.

School badges are non-transferable and non-refundable. They are good only for the student whose name is on the badge and cannot be traded among siblings. Badges are only good for the season they were purchased. A minimum of four visits is required, although the school may elect to come more often than that. Any unused lift tickets and rentals are good for the remainder of the 2007-2008 ski season. During February, they can be used during the time and day stated on the purchased badge. During March they can be redeemed at the ticket office for a half day pass. Unused lessons are forfeited after the end of the school program, so we recommend that students take the lessons they purchased. Badges can be used for the next ski season from the time we open through and including December 31st 2008. Parents and siblings of students are offered the school rates as well. If you do not want to commit to a package, students may pay by the week on the day that their school comes.

Season Passes

Students with season passes have access to the lifts only. This does not include rentals or lessons. Students with season passes may purchase lessons for $10 and meal tickets if they come to ski/snowboard on the night of the school intramural program. Rental fees are $24.00. However, season rentals are available through the ski shop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if my child has another commitment of the night his/her school comes out?
A: Students may come on a different night than their school, but they must choose another day of the week and always come on that night of the week. They may not come on a different night each week.

Q: What hapens if my child loses his/her badge?
A: Lost badges will not be replaced. Every week the child must come into the ticket office and confirm what they purchased and will then be issued a paper ticket, lesson pass and rental form.

Q: What happens if my child forgets his/her badge?
A: If your child forgets his/her badge, the advisor or chaperone must bring the child to the ticket office where we will issue a paper ticket and rental form (and lesson if apporpriate) and record the information on their sign-up sheet. The next week the student and advisor or chaperone MUST come into the office to get his/her ticket punched for the prior week and get his/her name checked off the list. A list of students with forgotten passes will be faxed to the school each week.

Q: What if my child purchases a 4-week package but the school comes for 6 weeks?
A: A student may continue to come out with the school even if he/she does not have any tickets left on his/her package. At this point, pay by the week prices apply. Also once the school program ends, the regular prices apply.

Q: What happens if there are unused trips on a badge after school program ends?
A: For the remainder of the 2007-2008 season, lift tickets will be redeemed for any half day pass and rental forms will exchanged in the office for a regular rental form. Lessons are forfeited if they are not used by the end of the program, so we encourage students to take their lessons. Unused tickets will be good for the remainder of the season, through December 31, 2008.

Q: What happens if school is cancelled on the day my child is supposed to come out?
A: If school is cancelled students may still come out and use their badges to ski/snowboard. Trips are good for the regular school times of 4-7 or 4-10. Lessons will be given at regular time, 4 and 5pm. If students choose to not come, the school often schedules a make-up day and the students can use their badges then.

Q: What does my child do with his/her personal things while he/she shis?
A: There is storage space in the locker room, however it is not secure. Students are permitted to change in the locker room, but they are not allowed to use those lockers on a daily basis. You may rent a locker for your child for $85 for the season if you choose, but Tussey Mountain is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Q: Do I need to sign my child up for lessons?
A: There are packages available without lessons, however, since Tussey Mountain offers lessons for all skill levels, we strongly recommend attending them. Students can take lessons to improve their skills or feel more comfortable with techniques. We encourage teachers and parents to help foster a positive attitude about lessons.

Q: Can younger siblings or parents ski with their child?
A: Yes. Packages are sold to family members at the same rates but should be purchased at the same time as the school package.

Q: Where do I pick my child up at the end of the night?
A: We recommend that you set a predetermined place for you and your child to meet. There are often many children here on school nights and it may be difficult to find your child. We suggest that children new to skiing or the mountain come out with families over Christmas break to familiarize themselves with the facility and set up a meeting place and time.
